Africans who do not own vehicles are finding it more and more difficult to move around town now days, this is a pattern Godfrey has observed when he traveled to south Africa, Ghana, Senegal, ivory coast and throughout East Africa, he observed that the growing population of Africa’s cities and towns (rapid urbanization) is creating a transportation demand so huge that both private and public transport services can barely keep up. Millions of Africans depend on commercial transportation to get them to their places of work, school or business, however across Africa there is an absence of a reliable public transportation systems to serve these people, to raise an awareness of a need for a huge public transportation investment in Africa, Godfrey paints a scene of urbanization titled MATATU (taxi) with taxis that diminish on the vanishing point to direct the viewer on the direction of public transportation investment ahead, painted in warm earthy colors he brings to life hope and uses triangular shapes to show the pinching nature of the transport system in Africa
